Stephen H. Fletcher Library

Library Services

Located in the Newport Center Building, the Library, and A-V areas provide intellectual access to recorded knowledge and information consistent with the present and anticipated teaching and research responsibilities of Alpena Community College. The Alpena Community College academic library collection is generally most suitable for adult use; those obtaining library cards must be a student at ACC or its University Center, or be a non-student at least 18 years old.

The Library consists of books, pamphlets, periodicals, reference, CD and on-line materials. Computerized local and regional library catalogs and inter-library loan facsimile service give students, community patrons, and college staff quick access to materials anywhere in the country. Computerized (CD and on-line Internet) full-text access is available for over 10,000 unique periodical titles, The Detroit Free Press, and an assortment of other national and local newspapers. Computer access to the Internet, websites, and email, is also available in the ACC Library.

Audio-visual equipment is used primarily on campus at Alpena and at the Oscoda Campus for instructional programs and for classroom use by individual students. Community groups holding meetings in college facilities may also request use of this equipment. Charging towers are available for all electronic devices.
