Head Coach: Christin Sobeck - 4th Year

For the Alpena Wildcats, Sobeck won 10 letters (4 Softball, 4 Volleyball, 2 Basketball). At AHS she earned multiple records in the volleyball and softball record books. This also included honors for each sport at the conference, district, regional levels including 1st Team All-State as a shortstop for softball. Sobeck was recruited to play division one softball at Central Michigan University to pursue her Secondary Education degree.
Awards earned at Central include being a 4-year starter as an outfielder, 2-time All-Mid-American Conference awards, 2005 MAC All-Conference Tournament Team, 5-time MAC West Division Player of the Week. Sobeck graduated Central with a teaching degree and also multiple single-season and career records including tied for the all-time home run record, top 5 in doubles & RBI’s, top 10 in Triples, and earned herself the Team Strength & Conditions Awards sophomore through her senior year.
Before exploring Australia for her student teaching experience she returned to ACC and fulfilled her athletic eligibility and played on ACC’s volleyball team. After all graduation requirements were completed she returned to Alpena with a teaching position. and continued her career with the USA Women’s Baseball team.
Sobeck continued her athletic career with the USA Women’s Baseball team. She played at this elite level for women’s baseball and was the only member from Michigan. She was a 5-time member of USA Women’s Baseball team, as a pitcher and outfielder. Sobeck has competed in 3 Friendship Baseball Tourneys with Canada, Japan and Australia and training sessions in North Carolina. In 2008 she traveled to the World Cup in Japan and helped Team USA win the bronze. Later in 2010 Sobeck competed for Team USA in Venezuela’s World Cup and earned another bronze medal.
She is employed by Alpena Public Schools at the middle school as a home economics teacher. In the last 13 years, Sobeck has also coached basketball (2 years), volleyball (12 years), and an assistant on the Alpena Varsity Softball program. In 2015 she was inducted into the Alpena Sports Hall of Fame.
Sobeck is married to her husband Jason and has three children.
