The mission of Alpena Community College is to meet lifelong learning needs by providing educational opportunities through effective stewardship of resources.

Sexual Misconduct

ACC is firmly committed to maintaining a campus environment free from sexual harassment and sexual violence, including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking, which are collectively referred to as “sexual misconduct”

The Board of Trustees Policy 7009 provides comprehensive information on rights of students, employees and others and the procedures followed by the College with regard to sexual misconduct.

In addition, the brochure entitled “Prevention and Awareness of Sexual Misconduct-Know Your Rights, Protect Yourself” contains important information, tips and resources. Copies are available through the Department of Human Resources and the Office of Academic and Student Affairs.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex against any person in education programs and activities receiving federal funding. Programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance include virtually all public and private colleges and universities, and all public elementary and secondary schools.

Students, staff, faculty, and other employees; women, girls, men, and boys; straight, LGBT, and gender-nonconforming persons; persons with and without disabilities; and international and undocumented persons all have the right to pursue education, including athletic programs, scholarships, and other activities, free from sex discrimination, including sexual violence and harassment.

More information is available through the Title IX Coordinator and at www.notalone.gov and on the Safety Resources and Links page. The Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry database is available by clicking here.

Students, employees, and others should use the Sexual Misconduct Reporting Form to make a report of an incident of Sexual Misconduct. The instructions for reporting are included with this form.
