I am a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and truly enjoy exercising my opinions and values in a democratic fashion, as well as enhancing my community through leadership. Tutoring my peers at ACC’s Student Service Center is another rewarding activity I enjoy being a part of. I also participate in work-study through ACC at the Trio Talent search office which is a wonderful program (that I am honored to be a part of) that reaches out to middle and high school students in northeast Michigan and guides them towards being successful in school, supporting them mentally and financially in their transitions to secondary education.
While I look up too many role models at ACC, and value them all greatly, the mentor who has influenced me the most is Mr. Bedard, my advisor. He is reliable, hardworking, knowledgeable, and practically selfless when it comes to helping students. He has been a pivotal factor in my success at ACC, and has never let me down or turned me away even when I needed help personally. For entering the workforce and becoming a community member, he is my benchmark of character.
I would love to visit Scandinavia. Not only am I curious about the seemingly majestic landscape, but I also am fascinated by their open mindedness and progressiveness as a society.
Utilize your surroundings. Everything from communicating with your teachers, reaching out for help from any ACC staff, participating in programs such as those offered by the Student Support Center, down to the everyday task of utilizing your text books by reading them thoroughly, or further cementing your skills by doing the practice problems at the end of each chapter.
Anything else you want to add?
I am extremely honored to have been nominated. Thank you for this opportunity!
